Nestled along the California coastline in Sonoma County, is a small community made up a timber-framed homes and spectacular shoreline views. Among these structures is the newly renovated Sea Ranch Lodge wedding venue. Originally designed in the 1960s, the lodge itself was meant to be the main hub of the area, which included a community center, offices, information hub for visitors and a post office. It is now a chic modern hotel.
With an updated take on its historic charm, Sea Ranch Lodge wedding venue is the perfect place for your luxury destination wedding. With over 50 acres of property, and accommodations on site, the coastal backdrop makes for the dreamiest of wedding locales.
Here are a few of my favorites features of this property:
The window frame walkway — Picture a long table with all of your favorite people gathered. It is a statement piece of architecture and event design. Leaning into the already existing natural materials, the palette and design elements can so effortlessly blend into the surroundings. Naturally living by the motto to “live lightly on the land”.
The bluff access — whether for a ceremony midday or sunset romantics, the vast shoreline is easily accessible with paths for truly breathtaking views. Wind will always be a key component on usability, but if available, the bluff views cannot be beat. It is perfect for the couple who wants a truly immersive wedding experience.
The deck — while small, this is the perfect spot for your cake cutting or champagne tower. If seating out on the lawn for dinner, it is a stunning spot to give toasts or to simply take in the view. We utilized the shaded side of the wall to get clean portraits of our bride and groom too.
The dining room — with vast windows to ensure the view is retained, the interior of the Sea Ranch Lodge is as impeccably designed as the exterior. The minimalist design creates a blank canvas for your intimate seated dinner. Not to mention, the chef is incredible. While visiting we were able to have a private chefs dinner with multiple courses, each as delicious as the next.
The general store — if traveling with all of your guests to the lodge, the general store is your go-to spot to gather all the goodies to include in your welcome bags. From wine and small bites, to Sea Ranch centric gifts, you can’t go wrong with a local tote stuffed with collectibles inside.
The sheep — but seriously, the sheep! Not only do they preserve the environment by maintaining the grass, but they are a fun element to see turning into the Sea Ranch Lodge property off of the shoreline highway.
