Feb 19, 2007. The day I moved to California with two suitcases and a one way ticket. Today, with a decade of life and lessons behind me, and so much yet in store, I’m excited to take you through the highlight reel of my growth as an artist and human while living in California. I moved here for family, and stayed for the fun. Nannying the eldest three kiddos of my cousin Jeff’s family was such a fun experience and I’m so lucky to have this piece of family here and to have created a bond with these kids!
I quickly found friends and a local pub that I loved… and took a photo here and there, that might soon be used on a popular dating site.
Shortly after posting the above photo, I met this guy…. and I couldn’t be more excited to have adventured the majority of this past decade with him.
With Kyle’s encouragement, I moved to Santa Barbara to further develop my craft of photography and fulfill a passion fueled by creativity. The skills I’ve learned allowed me to create work that has been seen by the masses, and launched my career as a wedding photographer. I’ve been fortunate to have traveled the world the past few years building my brand. It hasn’t always been easy, but I find each day, month, and year that passes to be more rewarding than the one before!
I’ve met some of my very favorite people here in CA, and know they will be life long friends.
California has held so many firsts for me over the past 10 years:
First car, First Apartment outside of College, First “really on my own” Feeling, First Drag Queen Bingo Night (and not the last), First Oyster Shooter, First Burrito, First Skydiving experience, First Published works — and a Cookbook to boot, First Dog, First (town)House…. and so much more.
I can’t wait to build and grow through this next decade with Kyle by my side as my husband (OMG!! 3months and counting) and maybe a family of my own someday. A few more dogs, at the very least =)
Thank you for hanging in there with me through my California journey, whether you’ve been with me in person during a portion of this adventure in CA, or just witnessing it via the internet from afar, it has been such a fun ride to share. I’m finally calling California : HOME.
XO
